PHS Band (BRC) and Choir (CRC) Resource 2017-2018

EXPECTATIONS

The following expectations will be posted in both band and choir resource and will be made available to PHS administration.

Due to the unique nature of our areas, teacher office doors are often closed during lessons and our expectations and trust of our students must be high.  Failure to follow these expectations will result in a loss of privileges from the music areas during PLTs as detailed below.

  1. SIGNING IN:  Music students will sign themselves in each PLT mod.  Students may NOT sign in other students.  Non-music students are not allowed in BRC/CRC.

  2. REMAIN HERE:  Respect other student’s lesson times.  Students MUST stay in BRC or CRC until a teacher is available to grant permission to depart. Wait until the lesson is finished and the office door is open to ask to go anywhere.  This includes:

    1. Bathroom

    2. Lockers

    3. Sign out/in to another resource

  3. FOOD:  Only students with a conflict during Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, or Treble Choir (courses that meet during lunch) will be allowed to eat in the band/choir areas.  Those students MUST communicate their lunch plans with the respective course teachers Mr. Busch or Mrs. Brown.

  4. PRACTICE:  Students must practice for ½ of the total time they sign in per day.  Plan ahead.  Excuses about poor planning/knowledge of available PLT’s will not be tolerated.

  5. CELL PHONES: At the teacher’s discretion, abuse of cell phones will result in loss of privileges.

  6. Students must keep their talking voices at an academic level.

CONSEQUENCES

As addressed above, the PHS music staff must have high expectations and a high level of trust for our resource areas in order for our department to function at a respectable level.  If a student fails to follow these expectations, it is the right of the teacher to remove the student from the resource area.  Warnings will not be given.  The standard consequence will be removal from both BRC AND CRC for 5 school days following the offense.

  1. A student may be removed for failing to follow the expectations listed above.

  2. A student may be removed from the BRC/CRC if they are not in good academic standing.  We will follow the same procedure as Commons Privilege (70% or better in all classes).

  3. A student may be removed if there are other discipline issues per administration direction.
